A small press, made for one book at a time
Briar & Birch Publishing began with a simple idea from our son — a story he wanted to bring to life. As we encouraged his imagination, something unexpected happened. Stories began to emerge from all of us.
My husband had ideas for a series he had never written down. I had quietly carried a dream of becoming an author myself. What started as one story became a shared family journey into writing, illustrating, and publishing.
Rather than waiting for permission or the perfect opportunity, we decided to take down the barriers between ideas and the page. Today, Briar & Birch Publishing exists to help meaningful stories find their readers — and to create books that inspire imagination, spark curiosity, strengthen faith, and help people feel seen.
We are a boutique, family-run hybrid publisher. We exist for authors who want their book made with genuine care — beautifully formatted, properly edited, and published under your own name, with the rights and royalties staying exactly where they belong: with you.
Why the Name?
The Briar
The briar reminds us that growth often comes through challenge, perseverance, and unexpected paths. The best stories don't shy away from difficulty — they find meaning within it.
The Birch
The birch symbolizes renewal, creativity, and new beginnings. It's the clean page, the fresh start, the courage to write the first word.

Hybrid publishing sits between two worlds. Traditional publishers take your rights and pay a small royalty. Pure self-publishing leaves you to figure everything out alone. We offer a third path.

You invest in professional production — editing, formatting, upload — and every penny of royalties Amazon pays goes directly to you. We take no ongoing cut. Cleanest, simplest, and the model we recommend
WHEN WE CO-INVEST
Fee + Royalty Share
For books we actively help sell, we can lower your upfront cost in exchange for a modest 15–25% share of net royalties. Reserved for projects we genuinely partner on and invest in beyond production.
Full-service hybrid publishers commonly charge $5,000 to $25,000+ per book. Briar & Birch is deliberately boutique, transparent, and à la carte. Your edge is fair pricing and a personal relationship — not a big-press price tag.
