Pinewood Falls has one claim to fame: Bigfoot. It says so on the water tower, the diner menus, and the giant fiberglass statue by the highway.
Everyone in town treats it as a friendly local joke, everyone except Desmond Okafor-Lee.
Dez does not believe in Bigfoot. He believes in evidence, and for three years his green notebook has held nothing but ordinary explanations for Pinewood Falls' extraordinary legend. Then two real, unexplained sightings turn up in the same week, matching prints, no mascot costume in sight, and Dez finally has the proof he has always wanted.
Except being right turns out to be more complicated than Dez expected. Chasing the story faster than the facts will support costs him his best friend's trust, embarrasses the whole town, and forces him to learn the difference between wanting something to be true and knowing it. With his notebook, his best friend Priya, and one very confusing trail camera clip, Dez has to figure out what is actually out there before Founders' Weekend turns his half-finished theory into a townwide spectacle.
The Sasquatch of Pinewood Falls kicks off The Cryptid Crew, a funny, small-town mystery series for kids who love a good notebook, a good clue, and a mystery that turns out to be more human than they expected. Perfect for fans of Encyclopedia Brown, The Bigfoot Files, and Nate the Great.
Some mysteries are about what is hiding in the woods. This one is about what Dez was too excited to notice standing right in front of him.
